Was August a bust or is it just me? I had a lot of internal stresses so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it. You’ll have seen in my August review this week that I’m currently job-hunting! However, I’m feeling more optimistic about this month so let’s set my 10 goals for September 2023 right now!
AUGUST GOALS
As always, before we go into my 10 goals for September 2023, let’s reflect on August first.
Get a Jonas Brothers ticket
DONE! I didn’t manage to get one during the pre-sale because I had to wait for an invoice to be paid. However, I did manage to snag an albeit naff-ish seat later on during the week! It’s been my dream to see them since I was 14 and finally, I can cross it off my bucket list! My only hope was that they sang songs from their first album, It’s About Time, as well as Camp Rock/Camp Rock 2/JONAS/Jonas LA. I’d rather hear those songs than their latest stuff personally!
Focus on client work during the day
I’ve definitely been trying to do this since the Women’s World Cup finished. If I’ve not done client work, I’ve been trying to find more work. I think this goal will always be a work in progress in terms of getting into a work routine.
Stick to content plans for the month
Definitely not. I was just so uninspired to create content during the summer, maybe because I feel like my content feels cosier. However, I have created my content calendar for now until the end of the year so now I actually need to write the stuff!
Work out of the house twice
DONE-ISH. I’ve only worked out of the house once but I’m counting it as a win in my eyes. My main issue is that whilst I’m productive in a coffee shop, I find my days out are really expensive. However, I’m thinking that maybe I run my errands on the same day and grab my shopping as a pre-planned day out. Do some work, buy what I need, and treat myself. Solo date days are the best!
Do a YouTube workout every day
This didn’t happen. However, I did do two YouTube workouts from KyraPro’s channel last week and I’m hoping to stick to some sort of loose schedule in September.
Read 6 books
DONE! I managed to squeeze in two books on 30th and 31st to finish six completed books for August! There were some days when I didn’t read at all so I’m quite impressed that I managed six!
Experiment with new recipes
I’ve not been feeling very inspired by cooking lately and I’ve been sticking to my regular recipes i.e. stir frys. I really need to up my veggie game but stir frys are just the easiest way for me to get more vegetables into my diet!
Have an HSM movie marathon
DONE! You know when you just want a trip down memory lane? High School Musical are the films that do that for me. They remind me of sleepovers during secondary school because we’d always watch the trilogy!
Stick to Sunday resets
DONE. As I said in my August wrap-up, I’m really pleased that I’ve stuck with my Sunday resets. I’ve created a list of the tasks that I typically want to do every week but then I can still personalise it if there’s something else I want to do. For example, last Sunday, I had some jobs to apply for in the morning so I did a shorter Sunday reset in the afternoon. However, I still felt together for Monday morning.
Book beauty appointments for September
DONE. I fit in dermaplaning the other day and I’m having my haircut on Thursday, just before my holiday. I’m getting my nails done on the same day so I’ll be booking my nail appointments for September and October then too.

SEPTEMBER GOALS
Now August is over and done with, it’s time for my 10 goals for September 2023.
No work on my Lakes trip
I can’t remember the last time I went away and didn’t do any work. I’m trying to squish in some extra client work until I go because I don’t want to spend any time working when I’m away. My exception is if I get asked to do a paid trial piece. If I do have some free computer time, I’ll be spending it getting ahead on my blog!
Write up planned blog content
As I said earlier, I’ve planned out all of my blog content for the rest of 2023. Now I need to actually sit down and write them all up! Some of them, such as reviews, have to be done the day after. However, general blog posts can be written in advance. I tend not to schedule them, just because WordPress does weird and wonderful things when I do!
Get a new job or a new client
Whilst I love freelancing and being self-employed, I don’t like my rollercoaster income and I desperately want a steady income and to have my own place. I’ve applied for a lot of jobs in the last couple of weeks so hopefully, I’ll get at least an interview at some of them! I’m torn between wanting to work a remote job and saving up for a few months to then move out. Alternatively, I’m open to just packing up and moving to a new city pronto!
Set up my autumn capsule wardrobe
Autumn is my favourite fashion season. I was made for cosy clothing, sweatshirts, long-sleeved stripey tops, and boots. When I say I’m very excited, I’m VERY excited to transition from summer to autumn clothes! I also need to make a shopping list of stuff I’d like to add to my wardrobe too.
Start Gilmore Girls
I’m trying to hold off starting Gilmore Girls until mid-September when I’m back from the Lakes! It’s the ultimate cosy season show. However, I might end up watching the first season before I go on holiday because I’m already in such an autumnal mood.
Start a new 12 Week Year
I basically feel like I need to refresh once again. I’ve just been in such a funk for so long and something needs to change. Hopefully, having some improvements in my business or career will lead to more motivation and energy so I can carry it into other aspects of my life. I’ll set myself some goals and really start to focus on myself and what I want to achieve before the new year.
Work out of the house once
So usually I’d say twice (once a fortnight) but with my holiday and the occasional day trip, I’ll limit it to once in September. I’d love to try a new coffee shop or eatery in Hull too. Now the kids have gone back, they might be a bit quieter too!
Reboot my morning routine
With autumn coming (can you tell I’m obsessed?), I want to have a cosier morning routine. I’d love to wake up earlier and read in bed for half an hour with a hot chocolate before properly starting my day. Also, I need to up my skincare routine because cold weather equals dry skin, and then, my eczema flares up too.
Read 6 books
I’m really on my reading kick right now and am reading a mixture of chick lit and productivity books. I’ve got a ton of physical books on my shelves that I need to read too so I’m going to take a couple on holiday with me.
Set up a weekly money routine
I’m obsessed with money (and not in a materialistic way). Whilst I’m not spending much (or making much), I’d still like to get on top of my finances before I really need to if I move out. Whilst I do track my income and expenses, I’d love to reflect a little more. What’s my mood like when I want to be spendy? How can I save up for products on my wishlist? How can I side hustle some more income?
And that’s complete for my 10 goals for September 2023! I can’t believe how quickly this year is flying by but here’s to hoping that the last 4 months of the year are our best. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and Instagram to keep up with my daily goings-on.
